School Programmes Application Guideline & Reminders

Application Guideline

1. All applications are considered on a first-come, first-served basis. The submission time will be based on the time of receipt by AFCD. Application cannot be made by phone.

2. Applications should be made at least 3 weeks prior to the programme date and within 3 months. Application for the ‘’Countryside Learning’’ should be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to the programme date and within 6 months.

3. Applications should be made by school. Each programme has a minimum participant number and a maximum capacity. Please refer to the corresponding webpages for details.

4.Please provide adequate, correct and clear information on the application form. Incomplete application will not be processed.

5. We will notify successful applicants by email or fax.

6. Please treasure our valuable learning resources. If you decide to cancel the booking, please notify the related Centre as soon as possible.


Programme Details

1. Schools should arrange at least 1-2 teachers/staff to supervise and accompany each group of participants. Schools need to consider the programmes’ nature, location, itinerary, and environment, as well as participant’s ability, age and safety, etc. for making appropriate manpower arrangement.

2. All programmes will be conducted in Cantonese. Please specify on the application form if an English-speaking interpreter is required.

3. Schools shall arrange their own transportation to the programme venue, and please note the following details regarding Restricted Road:

   -Shing Mun Road is a Restricted Road. To access the Road by coach, please apply permit(s) from Transport Department.

   -Mount Parker Road is a Restricted Road. To access the Road by coach (28-seater only), please apply permit from Transport Department.

4. To enjoy a safe and environmentally friendly excursion in country parks, teachers are advised to refer to the School Guidelines –for planning and implementing outdoor/fieldwork activities at Country Parks, and brief all participants prior so that they would be aware of hiking safety and environmental conservation.

5. Participants shall bring their own food & drinks, insect repellent and sunscreen. They should put on proper outfit for outdoor activity, especially hiking / sports shoes and hats.

6. School should pay close attention to the latest weather report & forecast by the Hong Kong Observatory through radio, TV or phone before and during the programme. When expecting adverse weather, school should immediately re-assess the programme plan or cancel the programme.

7. During the programme, teachers should pay attention to/remind participants on the followings:

   -Teachers should pay full attention to the group’s safety, stay in the designated activity areas, and not to leave without permission;

   -Remind participants to drink adequate fluid in hot weather to avoid dehydration or heat stroke;

   -Stay on footpaths and avoid walking through vegetation;

   -Keep quiet, do not shout or run;

   -Do not pick or damage plants. Do not touch, disturb or catch any animals;

   -Protect our countryside, keep the environment clean and reduce waste.


Programme Cancellation

1. All programmes will be cancelled without prior notice when:

   -Typhoon Signal no. 3 or above is issued by HKO, or

   -A/an amber, red or black rainstorm warning is issued by HKO, or

   -A thunderstorm warning is issued by HKO, or

   -Classes cancellation/suspension announced by the Education Bureau.

2. All outdoor activities will be cancelled/ suspended without prior notice when:

  •    -A tropical cyclone warning signal is issued by HKO, or
  •    -A/an amber, red or black rainstorm warning is issued by HKO, or
  •    -A thunderstorm forecast/warning is issued by HKO, or
  •    -The Forecast of Health Risk of the Air Quality Health Index is Serious (AQHI Scale 10+) for General Station.
