Nature in Touch Education Programmes

To promote nature conservation education, Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department has developed a series of interactive and activity based school education programmes for kindergartens, primary and secondary schools to be conducted in Country Park Visitor Centres. Some of these programmes are tailored for complementing "Other Learning Experience" and encouraging outdoor learning expedition. These programmes aim at encouraging students to use country parks as a learning platform to explore the precious wildlife and natural resources. Students are also encouraged to learn more about country parks, biodiversity, plant management and climate change, and actively take part in nature conservation.

Children can know more the characteristics of plants and wildlife as well as the country code for visiting country parks through group activities.

Due to maintenance works and exhibit renewal, Shing Mun Country Park Visitor Centre is closed from 1st July 2022 until further notice.

Primary Schools - The secret life in Country Park
Through group activities, students can know more about the life cycles of insects and the importance of nature conservation. Students can appreciate the great outdoors and the interesting plants along the Pineapple Dam Nature Trail.

Secondary Schools - Afforestation & Biodiversity in Hong Kong
Students can know more about the relationship of afforestation and biodiversity in Hong Kong through group activities and a short hike along the Pineapple Dam Nature Trail.

 

Secondary Schools - Shing Mun War Relics
During World War II, the British army constructed many defence works in Hong Kong, many of them are relatively intact. By visiting the Shing Mun War Relics Trail, students can know more about the history of Hong Kong and the war relics.

Students can know more about climate change and the importance of resources conservation through interactive activities. Outdoor learning offers opportunities for students to explore the wonders of nature in the country park.

Secondary Schools - Carbon Footprint and Climate Change
Climate change and human activities are closely related. Students are encouraged to join hands to combat climate change through adopting low-carbon living style. They can leave their footprints, learn the characteristics of different plants and enjoy the scenic vista of the countryside in Maclehose Trail Section 8.

To conduct diversified learning activities and interesting experiments in a larger space, and freely explore nature with multiple senses which help nurture and develop their curiosity and exploratory spirit.

Rock Classroom

Primary and Secondary Schools – Hong Kong Geopark "Rock Classroom"
To strengthen students' knowledge of geo-conservation, students will learn about common rocks and fossils in Hong Kong through participation in workshop and visiting outdoor exhibition feature zone "Rock Academy" and the Hong Kong Geopark Visitor Centre.
