"Excursion in Country Park" will be held from autumn 2025 to spring 2026, with five diversified themes. We will lead you to explore different facets of country parks and learn about its ecology and cultural history. Specifically, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Hong Kong Trail, some of the activities will be featuring Hong Kong Trail, guiding the public to explore Hong Kong Trail’s natural landscape, historic sites, and biodiversity. Trail maintenance workshop will be conducted at section 1 of Hong Kong Trail as well.

In this season, most of the themes will have two identical sessions. Base on the two rounds of events, enrolment will also be in two rounds: the first round will start from 12:00 noon., 16 October 2025; while the second round will start from 12:00 noon., 18 December 2025.

Application Guidelines:

  1. The enrolment period for the first round is from 12:00, 16 October 2025 to 23:59, 2 November 2025.
  2. The enrolment period for the second round is from 12:00, 18 December 2025 to 23:59, 4 January 2026.
  3. Applicants can apply for more than one sessions. Each applicant can reserve up to two quotas for each session. Each email can only be registered once for each session.
  4. Participants aged below 18 should be accompanied by an adult.
  5. Participants should apply for activities base on their physical ability.
  6. If the number of applications exceeds the quota for each session, places will be allocated by balloting.
  7. Successful applicants will receive a confirmation email within five working days after the application deadline. Applicants who do not receive a confirmation email will be placed on the waiting list.
  8. If places are available, successful applicant on the waiting list will receive a notification email at least three days before the activity.
  9. Unsuccessful applicants will not receive any email.
  10. Please treasure education resources. If you are unable to attend a confirmed tour, please inform us as soon as possible by email at nature@afcd.gov.hk.
  11. For participants who fail to attend the activity without a prior notice, their application on future activities may be affected.

 

 

"Step by Step" at Hong Kong Trail – Trail Maintenance Workshop

Introduction:

Have you ever wondered how hiking trails are built and maintained when you enjoy the beautiful scenery? In fact, maintaining and repairing country park trails are important tasks that require professional skills and significant manpower. Under the guidance of our experienced staff, you will understand the significance of the work through constructing and maintaining trails using natural materials. This workshop will enhance your appreciation on trails in country parks and learn how to protect them when you visit country parks next time.

The Woods and Battery

Details

Introduction:

Starting from the Peak Galleria and proceeding along Lugard Road, this century-old trail offers extensive views, allowing you to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Victoria Harbour and its vicinity. Along the way, you will learn about common local tree species and discover the unexpected biodiversity thriving next to the bustling metropolis. We will also lead you through the Pinewood Battery in Lung Fu Shan Country Park, where you can learn about the war history in Hong Kong through its wartime relics. Although the Pinewood Battery was damaged in the World War II, surprisingly, its command post, observation post, magazines, and even the lavatory remain in good condition.

Introduction:

Birdwatching might sound challenging. Yet, simply by slowing down your pace, you can appreciate the diverse and fascinating world of birds. Have you ever wondered about the daily lives of birds? Why do black kites soar in circles? Do birds wake up punctually every morning? What kind of bird is the "pitch-rising bird"? Is there such a thing as "surrogate mother" in the avian world? We will guide you into the hidden lives of birds — strolling through the woods, listening to their songs, and learning to observe and cherish our feathered friends.
