.
"Excursion in Country Park" will be held from autumn 2025 to spring 2026, with five diversified themes. We will lead you to explore different facets of country parks and learn about its ecology and cultural history. Specifically, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Hong Kong Trail, some of the activities will be featuring Hong Kong Trail, guiding the public to explore Hong Kong Trail's natural landscape, historic sites, and biodiversity. Trail maintenance workshop will be conducted at section 1 of Hong Kong Trail as well.
In this season, most of the themes will have two identical sessions. Base on the two rounds of events, enrolment will also be in two rounds: the first round will start from 12:00 noon., 16 October 2025; while the second round will start from 12:00 noon., 22 December 2025.

Introduction: |
Have you ever wondered how hiking trails are built and maintained when you enjoy the beautiful scenery? In fact, maintaining and repairing country park trails are important tasks that require professional skills and significant manpower. Under the guidance of our experienced staff, you will understand the significance of the work through constructing and maintaining trails using natural materials. This workshop will enhance your appreciation on trails in country parks and learn how to protect them when you visit country parks next time. |

Starting from the Peak Galleria and proceeding along Lugard Road, this century-old trail offers extensive views, allowing you to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Victoria Harbour and its vicinity. Along the way, you will learn about common local tree species and discover the unexpected biodiversity thriving next to the bustling metropolis. We will also lead you through the Pinewood Battery in Lung Fu Shan Country Park, where you can learn about the war history in Hong Kong through its wartime relics. Although the Pinewood Battery was damaged in the World War II, surprisingly, its command post, observation post, magazines, and even the lavatory remain in good condition. |

Serenity in Ngong Ping: Mountains and Temples

We will bring you to Ngong Ping Trail (Village Section) to enjoy stunning natural scenery of Ngong Ping and discover the history and stories of this place. The journey begins at the Ngong Ping Nature Centre, and the trail leads to the viewing point, where the magnificent Big Buddha, the peaceful Ngong Ping Village are all in sight. When you look up, Nei Lak Shan and Lantau Peak stand before you, and the extensive sea view with the Hong Kong – Zhuhai – Macao Bridge the Soko Islands are further away. You will be immersed in the tranquil woodlands, feeling the serenity of nature and escaping from the hustle and bustle of the city. |

Lin Ma Hang Lead Mine: Past and Present

Introduction: |
The Lin Ma Hang Lead Mine was once the largest lead mine in Hong Kong. Following its abandonment, the mine has gradually become a vital habitat and breeding ground for bats in Hong Kong and was designated as a "Site of Special Scientific Interest" in 1994. In collaboration with the Civil Engineering and Development Department, the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department has revitalised the mine, transforming it into an open museum. Throughout this journey, we will guide you through the history of Lin Ma Hang Lead Mine and its revitalisation project. Also, we will enjoy the splendid view of the Wutong Mountain in Shenshen while learning about the efforts in ecological conservation and the ecological corridor between the Robin's Nest and Wutong Mountain. |
