BioBlitz @ Country Parks - School Activity
BioBlitz @ Country Parks - School Activity will be held between May and July 2024. BioBlitz is not only an environmental education activity to encourage students to explore and appreciate our local wildlife, but also a way to practise citizen science. Student will acquire the skills of wildlife observation and ecological survey, also learn to use the online platform “iNaturalist” to record their findings. Therefore, it is a great activity for students studying subjects such as Science, Biology and Geography. Throughout the activity period, there will be “Country Parks “Wild Talk”, “BioBLitz Classroom”, and “Inter-School BioBlitz Challenge”.
Students will receive a set of exquisite species identification guide at the “BioBlitz Classroom”, and teams participating in the "Inter-School BioBlitz Challenge" will compete for awards. This is an opportunity not to be missed. Teachers are welcome to sign up now.

Country Parks “Wild Talk”
Country parks in Hong Kong has a rich biodiversity, providing diversified habitats for various wildlife. Country park is also a venue for environment education. During the seminar, experts will share about the ecology of Hong Kong, environmental education, citizen science and BioBlitz. The talk will be conducted in both physical and online modes.

BioBlitz Classroom
The BioBlitz Classroom will be held in the Lion Nature Education Centre in Tsiu Hang, Sai Kung. In the activity, tutors will show students basic BioBlitz survey skills the points to note. They will also familiarize themselves with the online platform "iNaturalist" for record keeping.
The BioBlitz Classroom has two options to suit different schools. For group size between 2-17 persons, teachers can register for Sessions 1 or 2 Groups from different schools will join the same session. For groups with 18 persons or above, teacher can register for the private sessions that the date and time are more flexible.

Inter-School BioBlitz Challenge
After mastering the BioBlitz survey skills, students can form teams to represent their schools in the "Inter-School BioBlitz Challenge". Students are going to compete in taking record of different wildlife in a specific place and time, as well as completing designated tasks. It is a fun and exciting way to explore nature.
Remarks: Schools that participating the "Inter-School BioBlitz Challenge" are encouraged to join the "BioBlitz Classroom". Get ready for the Challenge!
